Craft Shop
After visiting the Museum, take some time to browse through our Craft Shop. It contains many locally crafted items, including pottery and jewellery, that make great souvenirs and gifts. We carry many S.S. Atlantic items such as hats, shirts, mugs, fridge magnets and pens.
One of the highlights of the Craft Shop is our Nova Scotia Tartan products. The Nova Scotia tartan was designed by Bessie Murray in 1953 and products were produced by the Star of the Sea weaving studio in Lower Prospect. Even though Nova Scotia tartan products are no longer made locally, Bessie's original design is still used in the province. In the museum you can see one of the original looms and learn more about the design.
